Her Story:
We were contacted about rescuing this beauty, Scout, and just had to say “Yes!”. This baby girl had been passed around in a rural trailer park. The landlord discovered her and said that she was too big and had to go . . . or the owner’s family had to go. They were given 24-hours to get her out of the trailer. She had to go somewhere – anywhere. And fast. We were asked to help.
We initially said No because our funds are low and our rescue is just about filled to capacity. We knew that their alternative was them giving her away on Facebook, which could result in her getting treated very badly. When we looked into her eyes, and pictured her future as a breeder dog . . . or tied to a tree outdoors . . . or being given away and given away and given away again . . . or euthanized in a rural shelter, we decided we just had to find a way to make it work and rescue her.
The vet estimates that Scout is 18 months old. She is housetrained and good with kids and appears to be a Labrador/Flat Coat Retriever mix. She has had absolutely no vetting, so we have started her vaccines and are scheduling her spay/microchip. She is heart worm negative. If you are interested in fostering or adopting sweet Scout, please fill out an adoption application. Her adoption fee is $350 and includes her spay/microchip, Bordetella vaccine, puppy boosters, heart worm testing, deworming and other vetting.
